We have created this accessibility guide to accurately describe the facilities and services we offer all our visitors. It does not contain personal opinions as to the sites’ suitability for those with access needs.

	Patriotic Street public car park and on street parking along the avenue within 200m of the ticket kiosk
	There is an unofficial drop off point within 200m of the ticket kiosk by Le Frigate Café
	The route to the ticket kiosk has some uneven ground, kerbs that are not dropped and cobblestones underfoot
	The site includes a long tarmac/hoggin slope
	There is signage at reception using international symbols to direct and assist users
	Doors are manual opening
	The site has uneven ground and hazards underfoot throughout
	Site contains single step entries to buildings
	Site contains staircase with no lift to overcome them
	Fully accessible unisex toilet available
	Standard toilets have step-free access
	Baby change facilities are available, but at standard height
	Assisted listening/hearing loop available at reception
	Lighting levels may be dim in some areas
	Loud background noise in some areas especially during living history demonstrations including musket and cannon fire
	Discount for companions/ carers available
	Facilities for assistance dogs to drink/rest available
	The site has a lot of open and green space
	Disability awareness training has been provided to staff

The Castle

The castle ferry is only accessible to wheelchair users who are able to leave their chair unaided and walk 30m and up/down 6 steps. Please note the ferry cannot carry electric wheelchairs as cargo for safety reasons.
We have a set of evacuation procedures please ask at the castle reception.

Shop

The shop is situated in the castle reception area which is accessible via steps

Gardens and grounds

Throughout the site the ground is uneven, laid with a mixture of hoggin, tarmac, gravel, grass.

Catering

The café has step-free level access, indoor and outdoor seating, some of which is on an outside terrace up some stairs.
Counter service available, table service provided on request.
