The four ‘Discovery Days’, which are kindly sponsored by Mourant, will run throughout 2025 and cover the themes of Jersey’s landscape, flowers and beaches, and Christmas. Each event will be held at a different location, including Frances Le Sueur Centre in St Ouen’s Bay, Hamptonne Country Life Museum, Ouaisné beach and Jersey Museum.

Activities will range from foraging and sandcastle building to exploring the use of flowers in medicine and cooking, and making cards, decorations and gifts. There will also be opportunities to take part in nature walks, a beach clean and singing, and to learn about the Ice Age history of the Island and Jersey National Park.

Carmella Knight, a Jersey Heritage Events Curator, said: “Our ‘Discovery Days’ are always a favourite on the Jersey Heritage calendar, offering families the opportunity to enjoy a host of activities, whether they want to try their hand at foraging, follow one of our trails or make something creative. The aim of the ‘Discovery Days’ is to have lots of fun while learning about different aspects of the Island’s story, with a particular focus on nature this year.

“A huge thank you to Mourant for once again sponsoring our ‘Discovery Days’. Their support means these events are free of charge to everyone and all Islanders have the chance to enjoy our programme of activities, no matter what their age or circumstances. We’d also like to thank other partners who contribute to the ‘Discovery Days’, including the RNLI, Jersey National Park and aspiring Jersey Island Geopark, who help us to enhance the programme we offer during these fun-packed activity days.”

The first ‘Discovery Day’ is on Saturday, 29 March at Frances Le Sueur Centre from 10am-3pm. It is called ‘Discover Landscapes’, or ‘Dêmuchiz Les Paysages’ in Jèrriais, and is in partnership with the aspiring Jersey Island Geopark. Participants will be able to take part in nature walks and foraging, learn natural movement skills and crafts, and try their hand at landscape drawing.

Daniel Birtwistle, Mourant Jersey Managing Partner, said: “This is the second year that Mourant has partnered with Jersey Heritage to support the ‘Discovery Days’ initiative. Our funding means that visitors will once again be able to enjoy the experiences free of charge.

“Inclusion is a key business and people priority for us at Mourant, and supporting the ‘Discovery Days, reflects this commitment; in addition to free entry for all, they will feature a range of learning and fun activities, designed for different abilities. We have no doubt the 2025 ‘Discovery Days’ will be a huge success.”
