Sponsored by HSBC and hosted by our Education team and Members' Curator Carmella Knight, this engaging drop-in session offers a variety of fun ways to learn. Booking your FREE space is required.

3, April / 1pm to 3pm / La Hougue Bie
Step back in time for a fun-filled, hands-on Stone Age adventure at La Hougue Bie! Designed especially for JH Members and their little explorers (aged 3-5 years old), this interactive afternoon is packed with Neolithic-themed activities to spark curiosity, creativity and sensory exploration. This interactive afternoon is packed with Neolithic-themed activities to spark curiosity, creativity and sensory exploration, including:

🦣 Small World Play – create and explore prehistoric landscapes filled with mammoths, woolly rhinos and other Ice Age animals.
🏺 Clay Making – shape and mould like a Neolithic potter.
🔎 Feely Table – discover different textures from the past.
🎨 Hand Printing – make your mark just like early humans.
🌾 Threading Station – get creative with natural materials to make Neolithic jewellery.
🏝 Sand Trays – explore touch, sight and movement by drawing symbols in the sand.
📖 Story Corner – settle in for a Stone Age tale.

Our Longhouse volunteers will also be on hand to answer any questions and show you around the incredible replica Neolithic building. This drop-in event is a fantastic opportunity for little ones to engage, explore and play in a world of ancient discovery – all while having fun with their grown-ups!

Who can attend? This event is exclusively for JH Members' children (aged 3-5 years old). Adult supervision required – one adult per two children.

Castles and Crowns for Early Years

Calling all little lords, ladies and young adventurers! Step into a world of knights, castles and magical discoveries at this special JH Members’ event designed for children aged 3-5 years old.  This interactive afternoon is packed with hands-on, castle-themed fun to spark imagination and curiosity.

Activities to enjoy:
– Build A Castle – construct a giant fortress using cardboard boxes.
– Make A Coat Of Arms – design a shield with felt symbols.
– Crown Making – decorate a royal headpiece fit for a king or queen.
– Small World Castles – stack and play using building blocks.
– Potion Making In The Mud Kitchen – mix up magical medieval concoctions.
– Dress Up As A Bird of Prey – imagine soaring above the Castle’s walls!
– Block Printing – stamp and print like an artist from the past.
– Material Sorting Tray – explore textures of wood, chainmail, metal, and stone.
– What’s That Medieval Smell? – guess the scents of gunpowder, wood smoke, and dungeon mildew!
– Story Corner – settle in and listen to tales of knights, castles and dragons.

Join us for a magical afternoon of sensory exploration in Hamptonne’s newly planted Sensory Garden! This interactive event offers an engaging selection of hands-on experiences, including:

• Exploring the Sensory Garden – feel the textures of leaves, smell fragrant herbs, and listen to the sounds of nature.
• Bug Hotel Activity – get up close with nature by exploring cosy habitats for garden insects.
• Herb Discovery – identify and explore a variety of fresh herbs through scent and touch.
• Nature Mobile – create beautiful nature-inspired art using petals, leaves and other natural materials.
• Mud Kitchen – mix fragrant herbs and flowers with water to create magical potions and explore textures.
• Story Corner and Drawing Stations – bring the magic of nature to life through storytelling and creative expression.
This event is a fantastic opportunity for children aged 3-5 years old to engage their senses and develop a deeper connection with nature. All children must be accompanied by an enthusiastic adult who is ready to explore and join in the fun!
