Come and join Sarah Maguire, Lecturer in Animal Management at Highlands College, as she takes you on a guided wall lizard walk in search of the Podarcis Muralis! Explore the stone walls and rockeries of Devon Gardens and discover how urban areas can be a haven for wildlife such as these lizards and pollinators.

The walk, which is open exclusively to JH Members, starts at Gorey Pier bus stop and will finish in the grounds of Mont Orgueil Castle. Along the walk you’ll be recording what you see to help the project ReptileWatch.je, a local conservation project, which is monitoring reptiles in Jersey.

There are four walks to choose from. Walks last 45 mins and start at 10.30am

This walk is weather dependent and will not go ahead if raining.
Guide: Sarah Maguire (Geopark Ambassador). Sarah will be sharing her knowledge of reptiles and bees and you’ll be helping her to count wildlife for the ReptileWatch.je conservation project.

Duration: 45 minutes
Difficulty: Easy to Medium
Extra Details: This JH Members’ walk is restricted in number and is not suitable for people with mobility issues or pushchairs. This route follows Devon Gardens, a narrow pathway, steep slope and steps. No pushchairs or dogs allowed.
Children under 6 will still need to book a ticket and be accompanied by an adult JH member.
On 1st and 2nd August, JH Members can finish their walk at Mont Orgueil and join Creative Summer ‘Collage Your Castle’ with textile designer Kirstie Anne Fulton.
Please bring: your e-tickets and proof of JH Membership on the day.
